Meet Damien Gath

Hi, my name is Damien Gath,

I’m a mortgage and protection adviser based in Southampton, Hampshire, where I live with my wife, two adult daughters and my Shi-tzu Woody. Growing up, I lived everywhere from Dawlish in Devon, New Quay in West Wales and Selby in North Yorkshire and that reflects in the spread of clients that I help.

I moved to Southampton from Selby in 1997, initially to work as a commercial banker for Allied Irish Bank (GB). After taking voluntary redundancy in 2013 I qualified as a mortgage and protection adviser working with a local firm before becoming a Just Mortgages Self Employed Mortgage and Protection adviser in 2020 right in the middle of the Covid pandemic!

My clients are largely based in Southampton but I have regular clients all over the UK from the South Coast up to Glasgow with a reasonably large client base in Yorkshire as a lot of my enquiries are from recommendations – I’m a Top-Rated Advisor in Vouchedfor with over 50 5* reviews which earned me a listing in The Times and The Telegraph – the only Southampton based advisor to be listed!

Outside of work, I enjoy taking trips to our local sporting venues, in particular St. Mary’s Stadium and The Ageas Bowl but my biggest passion is live music, from concerts held in pub back rooms through to Stadiums and festivals. I’m particularly enjoying the resurgence of Britpop bands from the 1990’s!

With over 10 years’ experience in Mortgage and Protection Advice, and nearly 30 years in Financial Services, I don’t have a specific speciality, but I do help a range of clients from First Time Buyers, home movers, remortgages, shared ownership and Buy to Let landlords so will be happy to help, whatever your requirements!
