Ten riders. Four days. Over 400 miles.
This May, ten leaders from across the mortgage industry will take on an extraordinary endurance challenge: cycling from Edinburgh to London, covering more than 100 miles a day in support of two life-changing charities.
Known as The Mortgage 400, the ride begins on 10 May and will see the team push through some of the UK’s most iconic cities, including Newcastle, York, Cambridge, before finishing in London. Guest riders will also be joining the group on selected legs of the journey, helping to build momentum, awareness and fundraising along the way.
There’s no flexibility on the route and no guarantees on the weather. Whether it’s pouring rain, blazing sunshine, or something in between, the ride will go ahead. This challenge is not about comfort. It’s about resilience, commitment and coming together to raise as much money as possible for two incredible causes.
Just Mortgages is proud to be sharing and supporting this challenge as John Doughty, Managing Director of Just Mortgages, is co-organising the Mortgage 400 alongside Andy Dean, Head of Housing and Sustainability at Lloyds Banking Group.
Commenting on the challenge, John said:
“Alongside Andy, I’m thrilled to be launching the Mortgage 400 and bringing together the great and the good from across the industry to raise money for two incredible charities. It promises to be a gruelling, but epic four days as we cycle from capital to capital and stop off in some great cities along the way. We hope we can count on the support of our industry peers and colleagues to get behind all the riders and raise as much money as possible for both Magic Moments and Crisis.
“As with any of my colleagues at Just Mortgages or across Spicerhaart, Magic Moments is incredibly close to my heart. Their important work supports children and families in the toughest of times and I couldn’t be more proud to ensure this work can continue. Crisis is also a wonderful charity that supports the most vulnerable in society to ensure they have a place they can call home. All of us in this industry can appreciate that and firmly get behind these terrific causes.”
The initiative reflects shared values across the industry: collaboration, social responsibility and using our collective influence to make a meaningful difference beyond our day-to-day roles.
The Charities at the Heart of the Ride
Magic Moments:
Magic Moments is a charity created and supported by the Spicerhaart family of businesses. Its mission is simple yet deeply powerful: to create unforgettable memories for children living with life-limiting illnesses, and for the families navigating some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
By providing once-in-a-lifetime experiences, Magic Moments offers families something priceless: joy, connection and memories to hold onto when they matter most.
Crisis:
Crisis is one of the UK’s leading national charities dedicated to ending homelessness. Their work supports people facing homelessness through practical, immediate help, while also addressing the root causes through long-term solutions.
From education and employment support to housing access and policy change, Crisis works tirelessly to ensure people not only escape homelessness, but are supported to stay out of it for good.
More Than a Cycle Ride
The Mortgage 400 is more than a physical challenge. It is a collective effort from across the mortgage industry to support vulnerable children, families and individuals facing homelessness, and to show what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose.
We’re proud to support John, Andy and everyone involved in this challenge, and we look forward to following their progress from Edinburgh all the way to London.
